Australia has taken the “nuclear” emphasis out of the AUKUS deal after it has expressed the nuclear-powered subs does not mean nuclear weapons, says Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen.

“The very clear message that these are nuclear-propulsion submarines – they will not be armed with nukes,” Ms Nielsen told Sky News Australia.

“The nuclear load not being created within Australia – that’s quite significant when it comes to our nuclear non-proliferation agreements.”
