Australia’s banks are “strong” due to their “liquidity” which allows them to jump regulatory hurdles with APRA, according to Headline Advisory Director Andrew Carswell.

“So there’s no issue with our banks from their exposure of their balance sheets or their ability to borrow money through … bonds,” he told Sky News host Sharri Markson.

“But where it comes to their problem for Australian lenders is in the non-bank sector where they do not have to jump the same regulatory hurdles, where they do not have to have the same level of liquidity in their books.”
