Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Birmingham says Australia is “showing great resilience” against Chinese economic coercion.
Mr Birmingham’s remarks come after Trade Minister Don Farrell announced he will be visiting China and will push to end the trade restrictions.
“China should do that because they should be backing down on the type of economic coercion they’re trying to apply – Australia is showing great resilience … and that’s very welcome,” Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia. “The government, though, has now had many, many meetings from the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Trade Minister with their Chinese counterparts.
