Queensland duo Busby Marou is the latest big name to jump into mentorship for up-and-coming musicians, many of whom are struggling to lock in live shows due to dwindling opportunities.

"Growing up in regional Australia, you only had old fellas playing with beatbox machines. Jeremy and I came along with a couple of guitars and harmonies, telling stories … people loved it. The pair have been sifting through hundreds of applications to find a local artist to mentor and provide guidance to, in the hopes of keeping the Australian music industry strong and growing in difficult and unpredictable conditions.

"At the end of the day, supporting live music supports people, because it takes people to put it on," he says.
