Aussie pole vaulter breaks eight-year world champs drought
Sweden’s Armand Duplantis retained his world men’s pole vault title in Budapest on Saturday, while Australia’s Kurtis Marschall clinched a bronze medal.
“This was maybe the craziest atmosphere I’ve ever competed in so it meant a lot to be able to turn on a pole vault show for them. “Honestly this is just a little bit of confirmation that I can do this,” Marschall said, as reported by“I can be part of the medals, I knew I always could be. I had a pretty good junior career up to this point, then winning the Commonwealth Games and jumping a ‘95.
Duplantis flew over that height easily, as did Obiena on his second effort for what was an Asian record.
