Geelong-based Recharge Industries is one of the few contestants still vying for the collapsed UK battery maker and its $6.7 billion gigafactory plan.
Recharge’s owner, Scale Facilitation, on Thursday confirmed it had submitted a final bid for the company with the administrators EY. It is unclear which, if any, of the handful of other potential bidders have lodged a definitive offer.“We’ve prepared a final offer that we feel is fair and reflects our commitment to seeing a recharged Britishvolt gigafactory built in Cambois, Northumberland,” said Scale Facilitation founder and CEO David Collard.
But after its collapse, amid rumours of extravagant expenses and fundraising difficulties, the sale price might be in the low tens of millions. He praised administrators EY for their transparency, saying: “We feel that this process has been handled in a manner reflective of the strategic importance that Britishvolt holds for the UK, as a central asset to the country’s EV ambitions.”
