In a major boost for Australian workers, Tuesday’s budget is set to reveal that wages will outpace inflation by nearly one per cent by June 2024.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers hopes the changes could be felt as soon as next year, following three years of dwindling price growth.
He’s also boasted a tax-and-save strategy will help the budget return to surplus this year – thanks to higher-than-expected revenue from Petroleum Tax and franking credit changes.
