Average council tax bill to top £2,000 a year as Brits face £99 rise from next month
Council tax bills across England are set to skyrocket from next month, with experts warnings that the hike could come alongside potential cuts to key services.
The County Councils Network, which represents local authorities providing services to nearly half of England, said the move, along with a 4.8 per cent increase in government funding and council tax flexibilities, will not be enough to cover rising costs and demand. “While councils will do all they can next year to deliver these savings whilst protecting vital services, particularly care services, there is already little fat to cut.”
