A guide to finding and utilizing the powerful Last Light of Day sword in Avowed's Living Lands.
A burning blade, a loyal companion. In the Living Lands of Avowed , my best friend isn't a fellow adventurer, but a two and a half feet long piece of metal that's perpetually on fire. It's called Last Light of Day, and I haven't encountered a creature in the world that it can't take down. The funny part? I found it within the first four hours of gameplay.Last Light of Day is a unique one-handed sword boasting two powerful enchantments.
One heals you every time you slay an enemy, while the other adds fire damage to every hit (naturally). This makes it a fantastic asset in the early game, and I highly recommend making a beeline for it as soon as you can. You can acquire Last Light of Day at the end of the quest Dawntreader. You'll pick this quest up at the Aedyran Embassy once you reach the city of Paradis. You'll be sent there as part of the main quest anyway, so finding it is a breeze. Outside the embassy, you should see a character called Ofryc. He'll ask you to search for a missing expedition and point you towards its last known location. You can also head straight to that location if you prefer. It's in northern Dawnshore, just past the Northern Farms Beacon, at a place called Pilgrim's Path.I won't give too much away about the quest itself – it's a fantastic little dungeon crawl with some cool twists and turns that are best experienced unspoiled. However, here's a hint: the sword belongs to the Oracle. If, for some reason, that character were to meet an untimely demise by the end of the quest, perhaps you could loot it from their body… Last Light of Day is a significant advantage in early game skirmishes. But it can remain a valuable companion throughout your journey, even to the very end if you so choose. Like all weapons in Avowed, it can be upgraded through several tiers of quality. You can even enhance that health-stealing enchantment, either increasing the amount of healing or swapping it for a neat bonus to parries. In the Living Lands, there are countless strange plant and fungus monsters that are weak to fire, making this sword a great tool to have at your side. And let's be honest with ourselves: few weapons are cooler than a flaming sword.
