Preston driver arrested after axe, hammer and knife found in car
A driver in Preston has been arrested after police found he had weapons in the car and tested positive after a drug swipe.
Police stopped the vehicle which was driving down Garstang Road near the Broughton Interchange on Saturday . The driver of a Citroen Picasso was pulled up but when questioned gave false details to the police. Once his true identity was revealed, police discovered officers arrested him for a number of offences. The driver tested positive for illegal substances after a drug wipe test while also being found to be disqualified from driving and having no insurance.The car also had a number of weapons on board, primarily an axe, hammer and knife. The driver was also arrested for obstructing the police.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "Vehicle stopped on Garstang Road. The driver provided false details but the fingerprint device revealed his true identify. "Driver arrested for drug driving, disqualified driving, no insurance, possession of offensive weapons and obstructing police."
