Network Rail admit it could take 'several weeks' before trains can run again to and from Ayr.
Officials fear that trains in and out of Ayr could be axed 'until December' in the wake of a devastating inferno at the Station Hotel.
A senior source told Ayrshire Live: "There are fears being expressed that it could be towards the end of the year before the trains are coming back into Ayr. Rail engineers are still waiting to gain access to the site which has now been taken over by South Ayrshire Council's Building Standards team.
