Members at the Kilmarnock gym took part in the event to raise money for Cash for Kids
Members of a Kilmarnock gym pushed through the pain and tiredness to raise funds for charity with a marathon 24-hour deadlift event.
KAMMA Gym helped to raise over £1600 for Cash for Kids Day recently with the money going towards helping bring food and fun activities to disadvantaged children across Ayrshire. The event saw participants complete a bodyweight deadlift every minute for an hour, with 24 members completing the marathon task to make it a full day’s worth of lifting.
The gym's Conor Dorrans said: “The team took on the momentous task of completing a bodyweight deadlift every minute, on the minute, for 24 hours shared between 24 participants. The only hot meal some eat each day is their school meal, so when the holidays come around they’re at real risk of going hungry. We also ran raffles, took donations and hosted games no the day to make sure we raised as much money as possible and all tallied up we raised over £1600.
