A deal has been struck to secure 51 of the doomed Wilko stores which were on the brink of closure after the company was plunged into administration.
Ayrshire Wilko stores could be saved after a rival retail giant B&M purchased 51 doomed shops across the UK.
The retailer which has 10 Scottish stores, including ones in Ayr and Irvine, was plunged into administration last month, with insolvency firm PricewaterhouseCoopers tasked with securing a rescue deal.On Tuesday, B&M European Value Retail said it has agreed to acquire up to 51 Wilko sites from the administrators in a deal worth up to £13 million. It is not known what stores will be saved, with the future of Ayr and Irvine both hanging in the balance.
