special teams coordinator Zac Barton said the place-kicking competition remains a three-way battle among junior returner Gabriel Plascencia, Fresno State transfer Abraham Montano and Louisville transfer Nick Lopez. Plascencia got an opportunity late last season, when Browning dealt with a leg injury, and was 4-for-4 on field goal attempts with a long of 46 yards. Montano did not play last season, but was 12-for-19 with a long of 43 yards for the Bulldogs in 2022.
