Freshman Danny O’Neil will return as San Diego State’s starting quarterback for Saturday’s game at Central Michigan, according to a source
San Diego State quarterback Danny O’Neil started the season’s first two games before missing Week 3 at Cal with a knee injury. Danny O’Neil will return as San Diego State’s starting quarterback for Saturday’s game at Central Michigan, according to a source.
A 6-foot true freshman from Indiana, O’Neil completed 23 of 57 passes for 321 yards and two touchdowns during the Aztecs’ first two games of the season. He injured his left knee in the first quarter of the Oregon State loss, but remained in the game.“He’s got to be able to run around and be able to protect himself at a really high level.
SDSU was off last week, giving O’Neil more time to heal. It still wasn’t apparent earlier in the week whether he would be ready to return. It is fortunate that the injury is to O’Neil’s left leg since his right leg is his plant leg for throws.
