A charity has said that families bearing the brunt of the cost of living crisis are having to limit their babies to one nappy a day to get by.

Families bearing the brunt of theLittle Village, which supports families living in poverty acrossChief executive Sophie Livingstone told the: ‘We’ve seen the increase in referrals and a vast upswing in grim situations and horrible circumstances.‘We started to see it in the summer but we had people getting in touch last winter who were already struggling when bills started to increase.

‘It is not enough to work anymore. There’s all this thing about working families, working people, but working isn’t paying enough,’ she added.Livingstone said one family using Little Village, which supplies people with baby supplies, was referred to a food bank but couldn’t afford the bus fare to get there.

Young babies may need changing a dozen or so times a day, while older babies need to be changed around six to eight times.
