Emergency services responded to concerns for the baby's welfare on Nelson Way in Chadderton on Sunday afternoon (February 9th). Police and paramedics arrived at 12:56 pm, but tragically, the baby was pronounced dead despite their efforts.

Two individuals, a 41-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect. They were taken into police custody for questioning on Sunday. Officers remained at the property following the discovery, while witnesses reported seeing forensics investigators at the scene. It is understood that a file relating to the case has been passed to the coroner. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said on Sunday, 'Officers were called at around 12:56 pm today to Nelson Way, Chadderton to a report concerning the welfare of a baby. Emergency services attended and despite the best efforts of paramedics, she sadly died. A man (aged 41) and a woman (aged 21) have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect. Enquiries are ongoing.'
