Netflix's Baby Reindeer has been a huge hit since it was released earlier this year, but creator and star Richard Gadd has admitted he's had some 'daunting times' and backlash since the show.
Richard Gadd, the mastermind behind the gripping Netflix series Baby Reindeer , has opened up about the "daunting times" following its release, with online and offline hurtful comments plaguing his daily life.
And things took a dramatic turn in real life when a woman who claims to be the muse for Martha publicly hit out at the show for the alleged depiction of her. Detailing the "daunting times" he has faced in recent months since his show aired, Richard explained to Deadline: "I realise I'm twinned with this now. And that's fine, because the majority of people are really kind and understanding, but there is definitely a section of society that has splintered off.
Reflecting on his decision to explore his personal story, he shared: "I guess I was bored of artistic narratives where the central person is nothing but good. Life is very complicated, and people are a mixture of positive and negative. I wanted to show that, to bring that out in the world. Adding to his thoughts, the star mentioned he believes it would be a "good thing" if more public figures were transparent about their challenges.
