Adolescence was the big winner at the 2026 BAFTA TV Awards taking home four awards.
The winners of the 2026 BAFTA Television Awards have been revealed following a star-studded ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night. Hosted by comedian Greg Davies, the annual awards celebrated the very best in British television, with stars from across the industry being honoured for their achievements.
Netflix drama Adolescence emerged as the standout success of the evening, taking home four major awards and cementing its status as one of the year’s most talked about shows. The groundbreaking series, created by Jack Thorne, had gone into the ceremony with an impressive 11 nominations and ultimately dominated the drama categories. The show won Limited Drama, while its stars also took home several awards for their acting in the series.
Stephen Graham secured the award for Leading Actor for his performance as Jamie’s father, completing the set after previously winning a Golden Globe and Emmy for the role. Christine Tremarco picked up Supporting Actress, while Owen Cooper made BAFTA history after becoming the youngest ever winner of Supporting Actor at just 16 years old. Collecting his award, Owen said: “Wow, it’s heavy the award. A year ago, I was presenting one and now I am collecting one.
Thank you to the Adolescence family, and they are family now. Yous have travelled with me and my mum and dad across the world.
' He then quoted John Lennon and added: “You only need three things in life to succeed, an obsession, a dream and the Beatles. ” After receiving his award Owen spoke to the press, expressing how 'unreal' the past two years have been since taking his role in the hit series and how much it has impacted his life, adding: 'I’m just grateful for everyone. It’s changed my life because I’ve met all these beautiful people.
' Meanwhile co-star Stephen who played the father in Adolescence, described Owens as being a 'once in a generational talent'. Elsewhere, ITV drama Code Of Silence triumphed in the Drama Series category, while EastEnders beat off competition from Coronation Street and Casualty to win Best Soap.
Additionally, fan favourite The Celebrity Traitors enjoyed a successful evening, winning the Reality category, while the programme later picked up the P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award after Alan Carr's dramatic victory was voted the public's favourite TV moment of the year. Comedy awards were split between some of Britain's best-known stars and sitcoms. Amandaland won Scripted Comedy, Steve Coogan won Best Male Performance in a Comedy for How Are You?
It’s Alan and Katherine Parkinson picked up the female comedy performance award for Here We Go. In entertainment, Prime Video’s Last One Laughing won the Entertainment category, with Bob Mortimer also taking home the Entertainment Performance prize. The ceremony also recognised factual programming, documentaries and live broadcasts, with Grenfell: Uncovered, Gaza: Doctors Under Attack and Channel 4 News: Israel-Iran: The Twelve Day War among the night’s winners.
Special honours were also handed out during the evening, with Dame Mary Berry receiving the BAFTA Fellowship, while Martin Lewis was presented with the Special Award for his contribution to television and journalism. A total of 124 programmes received nominations across this year's awards.
