Some BBC viewers threatened to switch off as the BAFTA TV Awards aired on Sunday.
BAFTA audiences threatened to tune out of the show just minutes after it started, claiming there was too much 'waffle'. Sunday night saw the BBC broadcast the BAFTA TV Awards , with Taskmaster favourite Greg Davies hosting the star-studded occasion.
Proceedings kicked off with a sketch celebrating television programmes, before Greg launched into a speech that playfully ribbed celebrities including Lorraine Kelly and Amanda Holden , both of whom were seen chuckling from their seats, reports Wales Online . Yet plenty of viewers at home grumbled that they simply wanted to 'get on with it'.
Taking to X, one disgruntled viewer vented: 'BAFTA Jesus just get on with it, don't need 15 minutes of comedy and chatter, viewers turning off in their thousands due to boredom.
' 'Where's the remote,' lamented another, while a third begged: 'Make it stop! ' Someone else posted on the site, previously called Twitter: '20 mins into the BAFTAs, that's enough of that then. ' 'Too much waffle,' moaned another spectator, with one admitting: 'Switched off already, dire. ' 'Ffs get on with it!
,' grumbled yet another viewer, echoed by a fellow viewer: 'Award show organisers just cut the unfunny bits before nomination announcements... Just get on with it.
' 'GET ON WITH IT,' demanded another exasperated viewer, adding: '13 MINUTES IN this isn't ITV. ' 'If this opening monologue doesn't end soon there won't be time for any awards,' joked one person. Others weren't impressed by the opening television sketch, with one questioning: 'Was that supposed to be amusing! Why do they do these awful opening sketches?
' Meanwhile, some suspected there were technical difficulties, with one viewer suggesting Greg's microphone wasn't working properly and another urging: 'Sort the sound out. ' Nevertheless, plenty of viewers were enchanted by both the opening routine and presentation, with one declaring they were 'loving it'. Numerous viewers expressed their admiration for TV personality Greg, with one fan enthusing: 'I love him so much.
' Someone else took to the platform to say: 'Greg Davies commands the Bafta TV opener like a boss, covering all the bases including a brief history of telly. There's no equivalent to him in other countries' TV awards. ' The BAFTA TV Awards aired on BBC One.
