BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi – A total of around 135,000 individuals received aid worth nearly P700 million during the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair held for the first time here in the southernmost province in the country.
Speaking to reporters at the DepEd Cultural and Sports Complex here, Speaker Martin Romualdez said that the entire government, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his Cabinet and nearly 100 members of the House of Representatives were present, even after the House adjourned sine die, to showcase the implementation of the programs under the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair.Romualdez also answered questions on why Tawi-Tawi was chosen to host the first service fair in the Basulta area.
Romualdez said that over 200 programs and initiatives are now being implemented over the two days with the aim of reaching the southernmost islands, especially as the Bangsamoro autonomous region is still reeling from the state of calamity due to the El Niño phenomenon.The event was hosted by Tawi-Tawi Gov. Yshmael Sali and Rep. Dimzar Sali of the province's lone district.
