While some would assume this was a bad thing, the Redditor revealed that the game gave them the strength to leave an abusive partner.
Over their gameplay, the player developed a “genuine intimacy and attachment” to Gale, and began to question her sanity. Additionally, their real-world partner was the opposite of their fantasy attachment, attacking them with “physical violence… and manipulation”.
