What began three years ago as a high-speed chase over a broken taillight in Baldwin County ended Monday with a 44-year prison sentence for a Pensacola man.

According to court records, the Baldwin County chase began on March 8, 2021, when he failed to pull over for deputies in the Elsanor community west of Robertsdale. Speeds exceeded 100 mph at some points, as Eagan drove south, blowing through several traffic lights and stop signs. Near Lillian, deputies attempted to stop the vehicle with spike strips, but Eagan continued despite losing a tire.

“When his car was disabled in the wreck, instead of going to get a search warrant in Florida where the car was located, they just searched the car,” she told FOX10 News. “So they took shortcuts.”
