A public meeting next month aims to hear from local people - to allow them to choose how land at the heart of the Lomond Banks proposals is used.
Residents in Balloch are being urged to shape the village’s future, now that Flamingo Land’s plans have been rejected.
As a Community Development Trust they will be able to apply to the Scottish Land Fund for funding, with the group aiming to secure an asset transfer of the Tourist Information building and associated land on the banks of Loch Lomond and the west side of Balloch. “We want to try and invigorate public interest. It’s clear that the National Park are keen to work with the community on our plans.
The CDT is still looking for residents to join its board of trustees and ensure that community-led plans are ready to push forward from the earliest possible stage. “Quite a few positive things have happened recently. The Loch Lomond Rescue Boat planning application to move to Balloch has gone through, that’s an interesting development. Particularly from the point-of-view that the Community Trust would like to see the Gateway Centre repurposed potentially as a watersports centre.
