Ballymacnab have suffered a huge blow ahead of Friday night’s Armagh SFC quarter-final clash with Madden with the news that Ryan Kennedy won’t be available for selection.
The former Armagh defender has suffered a recurrence of an old Achillies injury and is awaiting a scan amid fears his season is over.
"He has had the injury for four or five years and it hasn’t caused him much bother, but it has come back this last while.” Grimley returned to action in their final group game with the Raparess securing a draw against the Harps in the Box-It Athletic Grounds to top Group C. “Niall Smith, Joe Sheridan, Darragh McMullen, Aaron McKenna - the list is endless. You see why they fancy their chances of going all the way in the Championship. They’ve had two great League campaigns behind them and they are definitely a team on the up.”When the quarter-final draw was made, most of the qualifiers would have hoped to have avoided Crossmaglen and Clann Éireann, champions of 2022 and 2021 respectively.
“We knew we were going to be playing one of the top three teams really, it didn’t matter who came out at this stage,” added the Derry native.“We know Madden and they know us. They beat us in the 2020 Championship so we know what we are up against and it is a game we are looking forward to.
