Due to a waterlogged pitch at Ballymena Showgrounds, the BetMcLean Cup quarter-final between Ballymena United and Glentoran has been moved to The Oval in east Belfast.
Tuesday night's BetMcLean Cup quarter-final between Ballymena United and Glentoran will go ahead despite the wintry conditions, but it has now been switched to The Oval. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Ballymena Showgrounds, but following a pitch inspection on Tuesday morning after a night of freezing conditions across the country the game has now been switched to the east Belfast venue.
The last eight clash between the two sides has already been postponed once after a waterlogged pitch at The Showgrounds on December 17 forced it to be called off. It will now be played to a finish at The Oval this evening with Crusaders waiting to take on the winners in the semi-final of the competition. A statement from the NI Football League said: 'The outstanding quarter-final between Ballymena United and Glentoran was due to be played at the Ballymena Showgrounds. 'Both clubs in communication with NIFL collectively agreed that the Showgrounds pitch is unplayable, therefore tonight’s fixture is now reversed and will be played at The BetMcLean Oval (kick-off: 7.45pm).' Larne will play Cliftonville in the other game of the last four, this is scheduled to be played on Tuesday 14 January. The Invermen are also in action this evening as they take on Crusaders in the league
