Internet and mobile services were cut off in Bangladesh on Friday following days of violent protests over the allocation of government jobs, with local media reports saying at least 28 people had been killed this week.

“I escaped by leaping over the wall but some of my colleagues got stuck inside. Hasina’s party has accused opposition parties of stoking the violence, raiding the headquarters of the the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and arresting activists from the paryt’s student wing. The BNP is expected to hold demonstrations across the country in support of the student activists protesting against the quota system.
