The Bank of England has voted to lift the UK’s interest rate by 25 basis points in an attempt to curb double-digit inflation figures.
It is the twelfth time in a row the bank has voted to increase borrowing costs, with this latest rise lifting its key interest rate to 4.5 per cent.
The announcement places the United Kingdom’s interest rate at levels not seen since the 2008 global financial crisis.
