The car was being driven by Rustam Utegenov, 26, of Kirkstall Avenue, Bramley, Leeds. . The vehicle had been bought by his associate. The plan was to move it to a more secure location at a service station when the central locking failed on April 1, 2021.Utegenov was frank with police about being an uninsured and disqualified driver, offences he went on to admit at court.. Mitigating, Daniel Scothern said: "He has not handled a set of car keys since".
Judge Rosalind Coe KC dealt with him at Nottingham Justice Centre on Monday, October 10, where some hearings have moved after the cells at Nottingham Crown Court were forced to close due to a broken fire curtain. Utegenov received a community order for 18 months, 20 rehabilitation activity days, an offending behaviour programme, and a six-month driving ban - all for the disqualified driving offence. He was fined £340 for the no insurance charge. An additional 40 hours of unpaid work were added to a breach of a suspended sentence.
