Joseph Raymond, 22, was almost double the drink drive limit when he lost control on November 17 last year and sent his Peugeot on to its roof. The crash was witnessed by the driver of another vehicle, Mr Hickling, who noticed the car coming approaching towards him as he drove on Trough Road, to the south east of Lancaster.
A woman emerged from the passenger's seat of the overturned vehicle before a second man managed to get free from the back of the car. According to Ms Patel, he was "badly injured" but neither he or the woman gave statements to the police. Raymond gave no comment in interview but later pleaded guilty to driving without a licence or insurance and drink driving. He had been banned from driving just weeks earlier. He was also serving a suspended sentence and subjected to a curfew for a previous violent offence.
