A barber shop in Boston with a unique twist: a full basketball court inside. Owner Brandon Campbell, a former Celtics ball boy, combined his love for basketball and his successful business to create B's Chop Shop.
You could think you were walking into order up a side of beef, a storefront in a strip of shops on South Street in Jamaica Plain.B's Chop Shop is the latest idea to smolder then come to fruition in the brain of 28-year-old Brandon Campbell. He's a kid who grew up in the Roslindale section of Boston , a former Celtics ball boy. His flood damage restoration company, A Touch Above, has been extremely successful. But this idea is a lot more fun than dry-vacking rugs and eradicating mold.
It's a unique concept - a basketball court complete with hardwoods and a'not quite regulation' 8-foot, 8-inch hoop. 'I'm not your ordinary barber shop, that's kind of my slogan we put into it to be different from everyone else,' Campbell said.With 14 foot high ceilings, six flat screens on the wall, couches to hangout and watch games, Brandon's vision was complete.'There's nothing like this in the whole city. It's the first one that I've ever seen in 33 years,' DoSouto said.'It makes it interesting, you know what I mean, a little excitement after the cut,' customer Derek Lynch said. 'And when they're done with their cut, get a chance to save 10 percent by taking a shot on an NBA hoop,' Campbell added.While it was tempting to go with the summer wiffle, I settled on a trim.Truthfully, I haven't shot a basketball in months, there I was standing at the top of the key, sweating it.And they gave me a mulligan on the three pointer.'Market this through the league where each one of these shops will be in every state. And let it be a shop solely for the NBA. That way they can get free haircuts, and they're also at the same time helping promote the shop and letting people know that it's a family atmosphere,' Campbell said.It will take a lot of effort, something this young entrepreneur is prepared to give.
