Newly signed KTM rider, Bastianini, struggles to adapt his riding style to the RC16 during preseason testing in Buriram. While he shows signs of progress, he recognizes the need for further refinement and a change in approach compared to his previous Ducati experience.

Bastianini, who recently transitioned to the KTM RC16 from Ducati, acknowledges the need to adapt his riding style to the new machine. While he felt he made progress during preseason testing in Buriram, he believes there is still significant room for improvement. 'Overall, I'm a bit happier than yesterday, because this afternoon I improved a bit my lap time,' Bastianini stated after the final day of MotoGP preseason testing.

'About my pace, I'm not very happy at the moment because I committed many mistakes during my laps – sometimes I can't brake hard, sometimes yes, and at the moment I don't know very well the situation.'He emphasized the importance of studying data and learning during this period, as the bike's characteristics differ from his previous Ducati experience. Bastianini and his crew chief, Alberto Giribuola, who previously worked with him at Avintia and Gresini Ducati, have explored solutions that worked on the Desmosedici. However, Pedro Acosta's setup proved more beneficial. 'The problem is that we have brought the direction of when we were in Ducati, and with this bike, it doesn't work,' he explained. 'I tried to do some corner speed, but Pedro does completely the opposite riding style – he stops the bike and restarts. We have tried a bit his setup and it's worked well, I stayed much faster, and probably the approach of this bike is this one.'While adapting to this new style isn't natural, Bastianini expressed satisfaction with a solid lap time achieved despite not pushing to his full potential. He acknowledged the need to adjust his approach for different tire conditions, as the bike's behavior changes significantly. He also noted the complexities of simulating a sprint race due to vibration issues, anticipating a challenging race scenario.
