AUTHORITIES arrested the mayor of Mabini, Batangas and two of his brothers for possession of illegal firearms and explosives.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Director Major General Romeo Caramat Jr. said Mabini Mayor Nilo Villanueva and his brothers Oliver, a former police officer, and Bayani, a barangay chairman, were arrested during the service of search warrants in their respective residences in Sitio Silangan, Barangay Sto. Tomas and Sitio Pook, Barangay Pulong Niogan dawn of Saturday, June 17, 2023.
Police also raided the house of Ariel Villanueva, also Nilo’s brother, in S itio Kanluran in Barangay Sampaguita. The subject of the warrant, however, was not present during the operation. The search warrants were issued by Josephine P. Lazaro, executive judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 74, Antipolo City, Rizal on June 16, 2023.
