Former BBC News Correspondent Jon Sopel claims the Beeb presenter has support 'from across the world of broadcast'
A former BBC News Correspondent has claimed the Beeb presenter accused of paying a teenager thousands of pounds for sexually explicit images is "extremely angry" over how the allegations have been reported.
The anonymous presenter was suspended on Sunday after he was accused of allegedly sending over £35,000 to a teenager - starting when the young person was 17. Now, journalist and TV star Jon has weighed in on the scandal, saying that the unnamed BBC presenter is furious over the allegations which have emerged and has said that the onus is "now on The Sun to show us, or shut up" after the publication exposed the presenter's alleged antics.
The BBC presenter in question is alleged to have "ignored strict Covid rules" throughout the third national lockdown, with the virus claiming the lives of almost 227,000 in Britain. A source has said: "The BBC were briefing the nation on the rules - when their star who was part of the institution was quite happy to break them.”
It has suspended a male member of staff after The Sun newspaper reported he paid a young person around £35,000 over three years, from the age of 17, for explicit images.
