'Rape as a weapon of war is raping women to destroy a community’ Following reports coming out of Ukraine, Dr Jelke Boesten, Professor of Gender and Development at King’s College London, explains why rape and sexual assault is used as a weapon of war.
There are reports that Ukrainian women have been raped in front of their children, some repeatedly so, by Russian soldiers and that some attacks have even been filmed on mobile phones.
On BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour, Emma Barnett discussed these reports coming out of Ukraine with Dr Jelke Boesten, Professor of Gender and Development from King’s College London.
