BBC viewers were left devastated by a documentary on Caroline Aherne's death titled Caroline Aherne: Queen of Comedy
Caroline died in July 2016 at the age of 52 from lung cancer. She was best known for playing the iconic chat show host Mrs Merton, as well as the role of Denise in The Royle Family, which she co-wrote with Craig Cash.
Sharing their thoughts, one viewer wrote: "Feel a sense of sadness every time i think of caroline aherne, very talented lady x," whilst a second added: "Watching the Caroline Aherne documentary on bbc2, what a talent, taken too early." Meanwhile, Craig Cash was emotional as he reflected on the moment Caroline called him to say goodbye after being told she only had two months to live. As well as writing the Royle Family together, they also starred as husband and wife Denise and Dave Best.
