Fans express disappointment with Paddy McGuinness replacing Gregg Wallace, citing a lack of chemistry and comparing him unfavorably to his predecessor.
BBC viewers were not impressed with Paddy McGuinness taking over as the new face of Inside the Factory, stepping into Gregg Wallace 's shoes. The Take Me Out star replaced Gregg, age 60, who left the show in 2023 amid controversy over his 'inappropriate banter' with female colleagues regarding their weight.
On Tuesday's episode (January 7), Paddy, aged 51, made a sentimental trip down memory lane to Warburtons bread factory located in his native town of Bolton, reflecting on his Saturday job there over three decades ago. However, fans expressed discontent with Paddy's performance online, with one viewer commenting: 'Just doesn't give off the same vibes. I've never liked Gregg but I'm not liking paddy in this role either.' Another was forthright in their criticism, saying: 'I'm sorry, I can't watch this programme anymore whilst McGuinness is hosting it. He killed Top Gear, he wrecked A Question of Sport, and now apparently they want him to do the same to inside the factory -why??' A third chimed in: 'Gregg Wallace could be irritating but they have replaced him with an even more irritating t***! Of all the people they could have chosen, they chose Paddy McGuinness.' Somebody else pleaded: 'Come back Gregg, all is forgiven #insidethefactory.' While another wrote: 'Bring back Gregg Wallace, way better than Paddy.' Despite some feedback praising Paddy as the 'right man for the job', there remains a sentiment that Inside the Factory might have simply 'run its course'. Gregg Wallace opted to leave Inside the Factory in March 2023 following his remarks about women workers' weights at Nestle during filming, reports the Express . Sources have alleged that he was 'rude towards staff' and spoke to them in a 'derogatory manner, especially to women'. The former MasterChef presenter has denied these allegations, stating that his departure after seven seasons was due to wanting to spend more time with his son.In response to the allegation
