A MAJOR rescue operation was underway today after a car reportedly plunged off a cliff in Kent.1Emergency services, including the air ambulance and lifeboats, charged to the scene at around 3pm.
The exact details of how the car plunged off the rocks is unclear but police, paramedics and the fire brigade are thought to remain at the scene. A Coastguard spokesman said: “Rescue teams from Deal, Folkestone and Langdon Battery responded to an incident at the cliffs at Kingsdown near Deal. “The alarm was raised at about 2.55pm, and Kent Police, South East Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service were also alerted.
"The air ambulance was sent to the scene. The Coastguard search and rescue helicopter was despatched from Lydd, but later stood down and returned to base.”
