The cause of the Beam Road fire that has burned thousands of acres in Yakima County is believed to be human, according to officials.
The evacuation orders that were in place over the weekend have been reduced for nearby residents., and quickly burned more than 8,000 acres near Zillah , Wash., in Yakima County . Yakima Valley Emergency Management officials said on June 16 that the evacuation advisory for the Beam Road Fire was reduced to Level 1, meaning "Be Ready," for residents of Zillah in the Rattlesnake Ridge area and the surrounding areas.
"There's a fire emergency nearby. Be alert and be aware of the danger that exists in your area. Stand by for a possible evacuation. Gather emergency supplies and belongings in a safe place," emergency officials said.The Beam Road fire was reported around 12:30 p.m. on June 15 off Beam and East Houghton Roads. The fire is currently estimated to have burned 8,542 acres and is 42% contained as of Monday, June 17.
The Beam Road fire and also the Camas Road fire, located near Wapato, were burning in grass and brush and threatening homes, crops, main power lines, and livestock, . The wildfires prompted state mobilization efforts by the Washington State Patrol to allow more resources to come in to help local firefighters battle the blaze.
