A bear who went on a rampage through a Dollar General store had to be euthanized after attacking a 90-year-old woman. The animal was caught on a heart-stopping video roaming the aisles of the Vernon, New Jersey branch on Tuesday.
The 175lb female black bear first entered the store at around 2pm, but left before the police arrived.The owner of the premises called police and said the bear had chased his employees and attacked his dog. The bear then returned to the Dollar General store where it attacked the 90-year-old woman leaving her with scratches on her leg, according to the New York Times. 'I went to the store to get some cleaning supplies, and there was a bear in the store,' Clarkin told the New York Times.Restaurant owner Aaron Glading told the outlet he took his dog to the vet following the attack.Police officers arrived on the scene soon after and found the bear in the parking lot. The bear ran into Sean Clarkin, a real estate agent who recorded his own heroic moment as he gently guided the bear outsideThey followed the bear across the street and determined it needed to be euthanized. NJ Fish and Wildlife collected the bear for rabies testing and will update the public when the results are returned.
