“In this instance, a bear took a special interest in one of our wildlife cameras and took the opportunity to capture hundreds of ‘selfies’,” an open space and mountain parks spokesperson, Phillip Yates, told NBC in a statement this week. The bear can be seen from a number of angles, full face staring into the lens, just a paw, tongue out, a backside walking away and various other shots.

The department uses images recorded by the cameras to map wildlife habits and habitat, and to monitor land use and protection needs for wilderness areas.
