Ian Rankin, 82, built the festive display on Milngavie Road during a tough year for him and his family, with his wife, his daughter and himself all facing cancer.

The yacht and its sparkling lights have brought cheer to many this month.

Ian also lost his brother to prostate cancer last year. Despite these challenges, Ian has channelled his energy into creating something joyful to share with others and to raise money for the Beatson Cancer Charity. Ian said: "There has been an amazing response from the community, so many people have said so many kind words and they have put their hands in their pockets and I have found that very humbling"
