Born and raised in Great Harwood, Barbara developed a passion for horse riding from a young age and was a well known face in the equestrian world, she always looked forward to gathering with her friends for a ride out in the open countryside. At home she was the most keen gardener and always ensured her garden was immaculate ensuring it bloomed in full colour throughout the seasons.
Joan Wareing Nee Molloy Joan Wareing of Clayton-le-Moors and formerly of Haslingden passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family at home on March 28, aged 76 years. Joan loved to go out for coffee with her sister Marie and could often be found in the Lancashire Tea Rooms enjoying a cuppa and a natter.
She was the most doting nanna and best friend to her grandchildren and she was always on hand to give the best advice whenever it was needed and she had a policy ‘What goes on at nanna’s stays at nanna’s’. From a young age Joan mastered the art of dress making and would make clothes for all of her children, including making her daughter’s wedding dresses.She would also spend many evenings sewing in the parlour to earn a little extra money, mending and altering both friends and neighbours outfits.
Flowers are welcome, but donations if preferred, in lieu of flowers are also being gratefully received in memory of Joan for the East Lancashire Hospice, further enquires please to Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136-8 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle. Family flowers only, donations to Derian House Children’s Hospice.Roderick Duncan Roderick Duncan of Oakfield Avenue, Huncoat, passed away peacefully on April 2, aged 62 years.
