Transport for Greater Manchester said it will be the first new bus route launched under the Bee Network, the first stage in the drive for London-style public transport network in Greater Manchester
Buses between Wigan and the Trafford Centre will double to run every 30 minutes instead of an hour later this month, it's been revealed.
, joining up bus travel with Metrolink trams, trains, cycleways and walkways.Buses were brought back under local control in Greater Manchester for the first time in almost 40 years in September last year under the Bee Network umbrella. Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, hailed an 'important milestone' with the new route. He said bus franchising had enabled TfGM to review service performance in detail and respond to improve the service to passengers.
"With new and enhanced services connecting Wigan with the Trafford Centre and Middlebrook we are boosting access to jobs, retail and leisure opportunities – which is especially welcome in the lead-up to Christmas. The only way we can grow the Bee Network, improve services and keep fares low is if more people use it, so I’d encourage everyone to get onboard and enjoy our cleaner, cheaper and more reliable bus service.
