The owner of a number of Belfast’s most popular bars is set to host his own Culture Night event on Friday.
The proprietor of The Duke of York, The Dark Horse, The Harp Bar, The Friend at Hand whiskey shop and the Sea Holly Gallery in the Cathedral Quarter has curated a special night of art, comedy and music to give back to culture vultures across the city.Willie Jack said: “The Cathedral Quarter is the cultural heart of the city, and whilst we support the much-needed review of Culture Night as a concept, we wanted to help plug the gap it’s left behind.
With a diverse array of talent including the New Orleans Funeral Band, Major Sinclair Memorial Pipe Band, the Causeway Shantymen, the Cushendun Rapparees and the Rare Oul Stuff touring between the venues, there will be something to suit every taste.Willie Jack also confirmed he will take retirement in 2026, commissioning new murals as part of a “Belfast Farewell” exhibition.
Willie continued: “We hope this series of performances will lift people’s spirits and brighten people’s day as the darker nights begin to set in.”
