Groups across the city should get all of the funding they request

An increased funding offer from Stormont means Belfast social supermarkets should receive 100 percent of the money they requested from Belfast City Council .

In some models of the social supermarkets, in return for food and fuel, relief clients are required to take part in “wrap around” support - involving money management, debt counselling, benefits advice, healthy eating on a budget, training and employability skills, volunteering and work experience. The allocation of £122,627 from the council’s Hardship Programme which was made to the Social Supermarket Fund 24/25 in the absence of DfC funding should be diverted back to council coffers, thereby provide a total budget of £223,400 for the 24/25 Hardship Programme.
