Lord Mayor Ryan Murphy will host a 12 foot tall puppet
This year’s Belfast Lord Mayor's Day will cost the city ratepayers £42,000, it has been revealed at City Hall.
The council adds the day will “provide a platform for local artists, performers, and businesses to showcase their talents and products, and enhance the city's reputation as a vibrant and welcoming destination for residents and tourists alike.” “The costs for all Little Amal activity on this day are covered in full by Belfast 2024 budget. There will be a series of additional events and activities taking place on the grounds to provide entertainment and engagement for attendees on the day inspired by the themes of inclusivity and welcome.
“Following the lunch, a theatre performance will take place using the table itself as a set with the audience viewing in the round. The performance will be inspired by the story of Gulliver's Travels.”Join our Belfast Live breaking news service on WhatsApp Click this link or scan the QR code to receive breaking news and top stories from Belfast Live. As with the doll’s previous visits to New York, London and other global locations, Little Amal’s itinerary during her Belfast stay will be shaped by community input, led by Arts Ekta and Belfast-born creative director Des Kennedy, who are delivering the programme on behalf of the council.
