'Some premises might be inspected at least every six months, others much less often'
The food hygiene ratings at the places we eat are designed to keep us informed about the cleanliness and food safety ratings of those places. As a result, inspections are carried out by councils like Belfast and the results are compiled by the Food Standards Agency.
A rating of 5 means a premises is 'very good' in terms of food handling, cleanliness and food safety management with the lowest score of 0, showing urgent improvements are needed.
