Boro striker Tommy Conway is tipping winger Doak to go all the way at Anfield when he gets back to Merseyside
Who, ironically, are being nurtured and developed by a former England star. Tommy Conway and Ben Doak are a couple of the country’s brightest hopes. And in terms of their character and personality they might just represent a new breed of Scotland player. Confident, cocky – call it what you want – but their gallus nature is getting the Tartan Army excited again. It just so happens that Conway and Doak are together at Championship side Middlesbrough under gaffer Michael Carrick.
“I can’t say enough about him. He’s like what he is on the pitch off it as well – he’s electric. The boy’s always at it. Hopefully we can both take that on to the international stage and cause carnage there. “He started against Croatia and Portugal and was buzzing because they’re top sides. That will definitely stand him in good stead. You can tell Doakie has been around a first-team environment for a long time. He knows how to handle himself in a changing room, which can be hard at times.
“You’ve also got Lennon Miller who is making a big name for himself this season. I only had one Under-21s camp with Lennon but it was enough to see he’s good enough. It hasn’t surprised me to see him kick on this year.
