Benjamin Mendy tells rape trial jury he makes 'good decisions' when he drinks
Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy told a jury he makes "good decisions" after drinking alcohol.
Jurors at Chester Crown Court were today shown footage of Mr Mendy leaving a nightclub in Manchester city centre in the early hours of August 24, shortly before he is alleged to have raped a young woman during an after-party at his Cheshire mansion.Mr Mendy told the court he was "drunk" at the time, having spent the evening at an event with Mr Matturie and fellow City players Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez.
In cross-examination, Timothy Cray KC, prosecuting, asked Mr Mendy whether he believed he made "good decisions" while drinking alcohol. “Yes,” Mr Mendy replied.Jurors were then shown a video clip of Mr Mendy attempting to use an intercom outside his home after returning from the nightclub. The footage, which was taken just after 4am, showed Mr Mendy getting out of the car wearing a headscarf and appearing to stagger towards the intercom at his front gate.
